Nestled in a dark corner of the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, this trap door whose the opening allowed at best the passage of a hand, was articulated on two disproportionate hinges. To do that is to forget that the Mont-Saint-Michel was also a prison from the 14th till de 19th century. The purpose of this opening perhaps was to hand the food to the prisoners. The end justifies the means.
